As the title says. To be clear, by saying “outside college hours” I mean during weekends or long holidays.

I feel like I always lose contact with people during long breaks, because we don’t share common experiences any more, so there’s not too much to talk about. So it’s understandable that after graduations, I lost contact with most people. The best case scenario is, I have a friend from highschool, we meet maybe once a year, and we can talk a lot, but after that it’s another year of silence again.

I’m currently doing my masters now and I’ve made some friends but I don’t want them to become “short phase friends” again. I know the best way to keep friendships is to contact with them often, but I just don’t know what to text, because we’re not that close yet, I would still feel awkward if I text them some random shit like memes jokes.

So what can I text to my friends during holidays? Presumably we share no common interests at all and we all live far away from each other so we can only text.

Here is an idea:

Asking how have you been (but is it weird to ask it too often?)

Any other ideas?
