Hello! So I’m a 25 y/o non-binary singer, I’m from a country in Central America, and I just didn’t develop strong social skills. It’s led me to the point where I’m at in which wherever I go and try to meet new people it seems like they already know the drill.
I always got bullied at school and college, both of my parents are intensely socially awkward and they separated when I was 7 so I was raised by my absent mother and a ton of different nannies because mom’s also a singer and was never home, she got locally famous because of that when she was young, with her connections and entitlement I did the same when I turned 19 (literally starred on national tv for four months craving love and attention, which I totally got but also coming across as a ridiculous and entitled kid with talent and a gullible, innocent personality.)
Then I became an obnoxious influencer having poor self-notion and social skills, started singing literally everywhere, signed an indie deal with a con producer, released a song for our soccer team’s 2018 world cup participation as part of the producer’s “strategy to get me deals,” we both absolutely flopped, then became “friends” with really dangerous and socially avid psychopaths way up high in the pyramid, boundaries were crossed at almost every level, shape and way, and I’m never going to be able to prove it so they would all bury me deeper at court because they’re charismatic, clever, creative, connected, powerful and rich.
Now I’m a paranoid and depressed stoner with zero friends still living at my mothers’ with a job at a call center (where I’m an absolute joke too but I’m getting promoted because at least my english is not too bad and I actually empathize with people) and my family hates me, especially my republican, homophobic and supremacist stepdad. I still sing places and even with the Philharmonic orchestra, but it now feels like I’m just exposing myself to the same stuff constantly, but if I don’t do it I can’t really save any money.
So, now that you’ve read this summary, what advice does any of you got for me in order to meet new people, date, do business? I’ll literally take any feedback, or at least I hope this story will resonate with some of you.
