I’ve been friends with this person for 2+ years now and we’re pretty close but their communication skills are so bad. They take so long to respond to texts but in group chats they respond. I had a talk with them and they pretty much told me they don’t open their messages or notifications just cause they got them instead they open and respond erratically from time to time. But honestly it’s hard to make plans with them cause they just straight up ignore direct messages. My other friend say they just got used to it, that’s how they are but I don’t wanna be used to it. I’m not expecting an instant reply within an hour but if you see the notification can you maybe not open it and respond days later. I honestly feel like this friendship is one sided with me doing all the initiating. Am I being stupid for breaking up a close friendship over this.

  1. I am in the exact same boat right now. I think in this situation, you don’t need to “officially” end the friendship, but just stop initiating conversation with them. If they don’t change their ways then the friendship will just fizzle out on its own.
