Hi,
I hope you guys have an amazing weekend!

I recently went on a trip for first time. I realized that I’m great at 1vs1(one on one ) conversation with strangers. Able to keep conversation alive.

Now, the momment new person entered everything get collapse and I start feeling uncomfortable. More like i don’t want to interrupt two people and their flow.

I only respond if someone ask me something.

How can I hold myself in groups full of strangers? How can I avoid overthinking? How to remain calm?

How to deal with ppl taller than me?
How to initiate conversation of person is constantly looking at phone?

I got more questions but these are most important as of now.

  1. So IMO:
    1. Don’t “interrupt” two people. Wait for a break to introduce yourself, or make a comment that relates to what they are talking about. This is the same for groups of people. Listen and add something where it fits.
    2. I have no idea why a person’s height would effect your ability to converse with them lol.
    3. Remaining calm comes with practice. When you’re trying something new it’s nerve wracking and it’s normal to be nervous. Just keep it up!

No one is hyper analyzing you the way you analyze yourself! Most of the time people are worried about the same things. Even if you’re the most charming or most awkward person they’ve ever met it’s highly unlikely that they’ll even remember having a conversation with you, much the less exactly what you said.

    Good luck!
