As you can see in the title, I am freaking out because next week I have to present a project in front of all people from my company. I learned about it today.

Actually it is a great thing because my managers chose me to take the lead on this presentation thanks to the quality of my work BUT it’s giving me anxiety because I stutter when I’m stressed.

My stutter happens usually when I have to present something, when I’m tired, when I feel like the person in front of me is judging me or when I anticipate that I’m probably going to stutter lol. For example this afternoon I stuttered when casual talking with a colleague about a project.

I am so afraid to pass for someone who is weak and awkward (it happens a lot of time). I want to look confident but still can’t at 27…

So I need your help, beside preparing and training for my speech and meditating/affirmation, do you have any trick to fight this fear? Thank you

  1. Practice public speaking from maybe a couple then gradually increase audience size.

Try to find out why you are scared? Lack of confidence, practice or social anxiety.

Since 80 people is indeed a large audience try to narrow that number by focusing on a small group so when presenting pretend they only exist.

Do you know anyone who has similar feelings toward public speaking they could do a better job helping you than me.

Aside from calming your nerves try to be active, like face your audience, practice use a microphone(if needed), don’t stare at the slides, pretend its a 1 on 1 conversation

This is a great opportunity for you to improve your public speaking.
