I often think people are trying to get my attention through random things like sighing and making noises. Am I overthinking it or do people do that?

  1. If they want to start a conversation, they can use words. If they’re using sighs or other signals to try and get you to start one, that’s manipulation and you don’t need to buy into it. But chances are you’re overthinking it.

  2. My granpa used to say “Mitä mietit rauhaton sielu” when I was zoned out, (though I think that’s a fairly common saying here) it’s basically “What are you thinking about?”, and I think that kind of question would work here

  3. I think eye contact is more of a request for conversation than a shrug or a sigh.

For instance if my husband is looking at me he likely wants to talk.

Sighing for attention is behavior that I find irritating.
