Lazy is living in filth.
Too sick/tired is letting the garbage can overflow a bit.
For me, or when dealing with my wife, I found comparisons to be useful.
If I (or she) had the opportunity to do something else that was usually fun, exciting, desirable – would we make the effort for that?
The difference between “too tired/sick to get out of bed for work” and “too tired/sick to see my favorite band or comedian” might be laziness.
Usually whether or not I’m in the hospital.
For myself, lazy is when i have the ability to do something but choose not to.
To differentiate between the two can be difficult, some days are easier than others. Other days i am stuck in bed, and am in so much pain it is difficult to move.
