I text my friend about once per day, but she hasn’t texted first in a few months. I know she’s busy with other activities. This is not about the relationship with the friend, but mods please remove if this is too specific.
My question is: **What does it mean if a friend no longer texts first, like, almost never?** She still responds to everything.
**I sincerely don’t know if I should keep texting first, or if i should back off and give her space. What’s the appropriate response here?**

It could mean either of two things:
Option 1:
It means you’re more invested in this relationship than the other person. You don’t happen in her headspace, so there’s no reason to write to you.
Option 2:
She’s very focused on her tasks and regards texting as a distraction, even to loved ones.

If she was more proactive some time ago, I would guess for option 1. The simplest answer is often the correct one.
