Is it ok to outright say you have no idea about a topic when people are trying to have a conversation with you?

1. I think it may be a little rude yes. They’re trying to talk to you about something they are passionate about, and cutting them off may make people feel disregarded.

2. “That’s so interesting.” “That’s really cool.” “I’ve never thought about it that way.” “You know, that reminds me of _____.” Etc. Etc.

3. Engage more directly to find out more. Make a statement observing the nature of what you’re told, then a question. Fair formula to have conversation flow.

4. Not rude. Unless you phrase it like “yeah, I don’t care about sports, sports are stupid and pointless” lol
