Hi y’all, I needed some advice. last night I got a text from someone from my past, saying “I saw we matched on so-and-so app. how have you been?” and i was confused because i would’ve remembered matching with this person on this dating app (which i do have at the moment.) i was also confused because a couple months ago we ended up hooking up after my boyfriend broke up with me and we just have a lot of history. long story short, he basically told me that he like never liked me in that way despite making it CRYSTAL CLEAR he did. anyway, i answered him, and he basically asked me out today. due to our history, I asked him “do you know who this is?” just to make sure he knew it was me lol he IMMEDIATELYYYYY was like “oh my bad i totally thought you were someone else i lost some of my contacts it just showed a number” but then he knew exactly who i was LOL and i thought to myself if he lost some of his contacts and only my number was shown….how the fuck could he possibly know that it was me???? he probably wanted to ask me out???? I’m so confused lmao don’t know what to make of this and would greatly appreciate some advice!
TLDR: a guy i used to date asked me out by acting like he accidentally texted the wrong number and covered it up by saying he didn’t have my number despite knowing exactly who i was lol

question is: even if he was asking you out, why on earth would you?
Sounds like he plays games. Have higher standards for the people you date.
If you ask someone out and they respond with “do you know who this is?”
Then you take that as a “No”, which is what he did. The rest of it is him saving face because he already thinks you rejected him.
If you want to go out with him, ask him out directly. If not, do nothing – he already gets the message.
