Not really much anymore. If someone has one that they use regularly it’s kind of unusual and would be seen as sort of eccentric.
Even when I smoked, only a tiny minority of smokers used a Zippo. I kept one but on a day to day basis preferred a cheap Bic. I still have mine but it’s just relegated to my mementos drawer.
I think outdoorsy people will keep one as a windproof lighter to start fires.
Zippos are cool, but I’d say these days they are used mostly for non-smoking uses.
I love them for camping and hiking (just make sure you have a backup ferro rod or something if you’re really in the boonies.)
Not really. We also don’t smoke nearly as much as Europeans. I only know maybe 2-3 people that smoke cigarettes regularly.
I have a bunch but prefer my bic, problem is you fuel them up from the bottom with the cotton, but then after a few days the fuel dries out, sometimes even faster so it’s not practical unless you have friends coming over and want a cool way to light your cigarette or cigar
I carry/use one every day. I changed out the insides for their twin jet one and love it.
I wouldn’t say we have a “smoking culture”. I only know 1 person who smokes, and they’re older. Smoking is definitely frowned upon for the most part.
