short and long term?

  1. If you lay awake thinking about things you think are shameful, try to think about shameful things of other people.

    Nothing comes to your mind?

Oh well, that’s also how many people think about yours.

So try to stop, make the best of it, if necessary own it, and try to move on.

  2. I don’t really experience shame. Some people aren’t gonna approve of you, that doesn’t *necessarily* mean you’re doing anything wrong. Just because someone thinks less of you because of your identity or your interests or whatever doesn’t mean their opinion carries any weight… you gotta ask yourself how *you* feel about it. Is there a valid ethical judgement being made? Is anyone actually being hurt by your behavior? What consequences exist? A lot of shame is misplaced.

On the other hand, if the shame you feel *is valid* then you have to improve yourself, be better. Don’t dwell on it, but make right your mistakes and steer yourself into a better path.

  3. Pull your pants down around your ankles when you pee in public bathrooms. Will make most anything else not feel that embarrassing.
