So I got to be group mates again with a guy who can’t seem to follow instructions whether people speak to him or message him online. This has been pissing off everyone and they’re hiding it from him. People would repeat the instruction more than 3 times but he still can’t follow instructions. My group had to write a short script for him to read for a time limited presentation that was mentioned many times beforehand. He decides to speak outside of the script in some accent then laugh and make jokes in the group chat about it.

This guy also can’t answer questions properly like 95% of the time. To the point he would straight up plagiarize his answers(that still don’t answer the question) without paraphrasing even after being reminded to “please” paraphrase many times from other students. He won’t stop plagiarizing.

Then there’s the part where he keeps asking people to help him. It’s to the point he makes someone drop everything the person is doing and accommodate him every step of the way while asking if he’s doing it right more than once before moving on to the the next step. Tell him to make a list of 10 existing personality traits, he asks where to find it online and then proceeds to ask if each trait he writes is correct until he’s done. If he doesn’t do this, he’d say he can’t do it and then go AWOL. He never tries to learn on his own.

Everyone notices this guy stutters, takes a while to answer, and speak softly when a teacher calls him just for recitation. He doesn’t respond when told instructions online and then asks what to do hours later when someone has already done the work. It’s simple things like telling him to copy paste a photo of our group mate. I think he has some sort of social anxiety. I’m trying to encourage him saying what he can do and that he can do it. The students do the same but he still won’t believe in himself and relies on everyone to do the work for him.

How do I deal with him?
