How to compliment a friend for an achievement without seeming like am looking down at them?

1. Don’t over think it. Just tell them good job or that you hope it goes well. Or nothing at all. They’re just starting to learn the language after all.

2. Compliment them in the language that they’re learning. If they do not understand what you just said, explain it to them.
