So I asked someone to go to a party (as friends) and they said after a while that some family friend was coming over so they couldn’t. They then said she might be interested in hanging out another time. How do I know if there is any actual interest in being friends from them?

  1. I go by how much effort the other person reciprocates. If I see 0 reciprocity after three attempts I’m done. Other times I accept that some people are only work friends, others family friends, school friends, etc. Once good friends reciprocity comes natural and isn’t exactly tit for tat.
