Women with piercings, after you received your first piercing, how did that experience affect your plans for future piercings?

  1. My first got infected and left me with a scar, so it made me very cautious to get any others. I did get one more, and then relaxed when it went really well. I stopped at two because those are the only ones I wanted.

  2. I got a lot more after my first one. I have 5 piercings on both sides of my ear. At one point I got my belly pierced too, but it got infected and closed up.

  3. Got my first set in my lobes when I was 18 and hated the experience because it was done with a piercing gun at the pharmacy. I ended up getting my daith piercing 10 or 12 years later and it was a much better experience with a professional piercer, using professional piercing tools in a tattoo studio. The second daith piercing was done incorrectly with the wrong size jewellery and had to be cut behind the ball end to be able to remove it. But I currently have 3 sets in my lobes and both daiths pierced and have plans on getting my nipples pierced…again.

  4. I just want more lol. Getting my first piercing made me feel so in control, changing my body to express myself. Absolutely love my piercings and have so many more planned.

  5. developed some scar tissue after my second ear piercing, so it created a bit of fear that all my next piercings would turn out the same – they did not, but i’m still mortified since i adore them

  6. It didn’t really affect my plans at all, even though the guy who did my piercing wasn’t very professional, talking loudly on the phone like some frat bro when he was supposed to get stuff ready, putting on loud music and trying to pressure me to do a more ‘fun’ piercing than just my eyebrow, because he was tired of doing those. Ended up losing the piercing due to my body rejecting it, annoying. Sure, getting pierced hurt, but the pain is so temporary that it doesn’t really matter, and I had a really good experience with the piercer and her apprentice who did the rest of my stuff, unfortunately I had some issues with healing so I had to remove several of them, but I’m going back to have them redone when I can.

  7. Imo, the earlier in life you get it, the better. I had my basic earlobe piercing as a teenager and it was so hurtful that I decided against having any more of those ever again.

  8. It didn’t, the only reason I didn’t get my tongue pierced was because at the time I was sure I’d be unable to speak properly the next day when I had to go back to my military briefing job, where I had to talk a lot.

  9. I’ve had loads and never had any problems. They’ve always healed well. I had to take my nipple piercing out as I was in hospital for a while and had to keep taking it out for x rays

  10. I got one cartilage piercing. It didn’t go well. I only had it for a month before I took it out. I had terrible neck pain because I couldn’t sleep on that side or would occasionally hit it with my hair brush or when I put my hair behind my ear. Then it got infected and I just gave up. I loved the look but it wasn’t worth it to me

  11. I got my ears pierced when I was 7, but I consider my first piercing my belly button when I was 14. I wanted more after the getting that done, and now have 13 total, mostly in my ears and fairly simple jewelry (gold and crystal studs).

It’s been a while since my last piercing, and I’d be open to getting more, but every time I see one I think I’d like, I realize I already have it and have forgotten about it. I’m also lazy, and it’s an hour’s drive to get to the piercing place I like, and the piercer also has limited hours. And then of course, I’m now in a management role, and the rest of my organization is mostly older men with traditional values, so while they’re slowly coming around, I still have to tread somewhat of a line between being seen as that “crazy millennial girl with the piercings” and professional.

  12. Considering I got mine as a baby, it didn’t affect anything. I still only have my earlobes pierced

  13. I got a whole lot more. Happy with my 11. Didn’t have any issues with their healing process so 10/10

  14. My first piercing I got was belly button on my own when I was 13. It was froze so I didn’t feel it, but it got infected as I didn’t understand about cleaning it.

My last piercing I got was my nose, I always wanted it but my god the most painful thing I’ve ever had done. More than tattoos I’d say. Still love it tho.

I’m between this 9 dif ear piercings and I don’t feel pain there.
