I went to the doctor today within 3 days of exposure (Valentine’s Day) because I had unprotected penetration and oral sex and soon after got what felt like a sore throat. The guy told me he was drug and disease free and it was a new guy I hooked up with. My (female) lady bits feel fine but I did feel like I had a strep throat. I tested positive for strep a today and tested negative for trichomonas antigen. I will get my std testing results on Monday but did I take my std test too early that the results can come out inaccurate and I tested positive for strep throat but can you test positive for strep with an oral std?
I was prescribed metronidazol 500mg (3 tabs a day every 8 hours) and azithromycin 500mg(1 tab for 7 days). At the end of my appointment the nurse asked me when I had sex last after all the testing she and the other nurse were like yeah like was it because I came too early. But when I getting ready to leave I asked if I had an std and she said no you don’t have even though the results did not come but I was like what if the std test comes out positive she said that the medications prescribed to me will take care of it. I don’t understand are they trying not to make me feel worse about it because they could tell I was panicking about it especially since I didn’t want my parents to know and they were trying their best to help me. So could this mean I have an Std/sti and it’s not necessarily strep only?

  1. Sex can give you a bacterial infection in your throat/tonsils. Dry, itchy, and a foul odor. You can go to any fast clinic, convenient care, med express, etc if you don’t want to wait for a doctor’s appointment. I’d say it’s probably just strep though. I’d keep an eye out for infections that don’t go away after taking the medication, have visible sores or spots in your mouth, an unusual and foul odor, or any kind of pus or discharge. To be safe get tested again before having sex again (you’ll want to wait to not spread the strep anyway). About the meds, there are some meds that they prescribe for STDs before you have a test, it will cure you if you have that std.
