When people talk about finance, taxation, the stock market and other things about adulting I often find myself going into a shell. Otherwise I’m not too introverted, but when it comes to talking about government procedures (e.g; visa process, income tax returns, investment declaration, etc.) I go blank. I do read up on these things and the specifics about each of these topics but when having a conversation I cannot recall the relevant talking points or I have trouble putting together a coherent sentence.

I also stumble when forming a sentence and end up repeating words because I feel I may not have effectively put across the word or its context fluently the first time.

And this kills my confidence, which makes me reluctant (I had to think about this word for 8 seconds because I couldn’t remember it) to participate in these conversations. Please tell me someone here relates, because otherwise my immediate inference from this is that I may have aphasia or I may be on the autism spectrum.

  1. My friend you really need to work on your self trust. This is the most important thing for you right now!

And of course, I understand, there are certain topics that you can’t really talk about. That’s normal…

But just increasing your self-trust will fix this problem

  2. I can definitely relate to the thing that you have to stop for like 10 seconds to recall the word you want to use. I can describe my brain as very inefficient in situations I have to recall things. Often when I have a conversation over the phone i listen carefully. When asked after what was the conversation about I sometimes don’t remember specific things.
