A little catch up. I attend art school regularly, and from the very start of coming in to classes I have never talked to anyone except for teachers occasionally. It’s not as if the students were mean to me, It’s just that I never started talking to them. So it brings me to today where my art school years are coming to an end and I really want to start talking, But just don’t know how to approach it, and I’m afraid of how people will react to my voice. If anyone has any advice, It would be greatly appreciated.

  1. So, two questions. 1) do you have friends that you talk to outside of school (no shame!) 2) is your concern about not talking at school more because you’re insecure about your voice or because you aren’t sure how people would react by you going from bo talking to talking?

  2. Go into class, and say hello to somebody, it’s easier if they are sitting closer to you.

Keep saying hello to people. Ask about their day, what they thought about a project, that interesting patch on their backpack, anything really.

Keep your expectations low, some people just don’t like talking, but others love it.

Next, if you are eating on campus, find people to eat with.

  3. If you hear people talk about a topic, that you can say something to, go to them and say it
