So people always say that to get past the small talk phase its better to not small talk at all but you also can’t go up to someone you don’t know and ask them their opinion on what the meaning of the universe is as that would be weird.

So how should you start talking with people you don’t know?

  3. Start with a smile. Catch their eye. If they smile back say something, hi, a commiseration, observation. Sometimes all it is a look to find out you might have something in common. Everybody has something in common.
