Overly polite?

I wasn’t sure if I was still shy after years of working in the hospitality industry, but I might be? I know I’m definitely awkward the first few times of meeting someone new. But I realized today that my default is to be overly polite! My voice gets even more high-pitched, and I’m constantly saying thank you and not getting my message across firmly and clearly.

I’ve been at my new job since September, and I’m still struggling to find my place. It’s also difficult to befriend my colleagues.
