So I have a coworker who keeps spraying Lysol in the air. I’m very non-confrontational and have told her to chill with it. They have been. But today I was slightly choking on a chip and next thing I know there’s Lysol everywhere in the air (they don’t spray surfaces) and I can taste it in the air.

The thing is, I’m hardly in the office because I’m always out on assignment. I don’t have a very good relationship with anyone but our supervisor (there’s only 5 of us including them). I don’t know how to bring it up AGAIN. To use the Lysol for its intended use.

I struggle with asthma and allergies so it’s all very annoying.

How do I make this situation good for everyone?

  1. I’d tell them that spraying that effects your allergies, and to not spray it when you’re in the office. Than send a email to HR explaining the same thing.

  2. You should speak with your supervisor or HR. You’ve already asked. Explain that it affects your allergies and asthma and the chemical is not intended for breathing. If it continues, document it in writing and continue to communicate with management, consider having a doctor write a note that you should not breath Lysol to give to your company. This could be an OSHA or ADA violation. I’m sorry this is happening to you.
