I’ve always had the mindset of being straight to the point in as little words as possible when I realise I’m doing it 9 times out of 10 I don’t realise I’m doing it until too late in person I can laugh it off or make a quick joke but on text I have like 4 text conversation because I seem uninterested in the conversation but if I actively try add more to what I’m saying it seems disingenuous or sarcastic.

So, I was guilty if this as well. My Dad told me to always be straight to the point and honest with people. This is excellent advise for males in the Deep South but nowhere else. Reading the room is essential before opening your mouth. If women are near … no. Being straight forward and honest makes people afraid of you. It comes across as a threat. If you are in a general group.., no. It comes across as increasing the stress in the group. The ONLY time you must be straight forward is when you are going to whup someone’s ass. Period. Most people want to remain oblivious and happy. That truth tends to upset folks reality. GL
