How would you react if a worker scolded you for not leaving a large enough tip?

  1. I’d tell them off and never go back again.

I over tip all the time, so if they aren’t happy with a 30% tip they can kiss my ass.

  2. Probably ignore them. Or laugh. Tipping culture in the US is beyond out of control.

  3. Stare blankly as I feel embarrassed. I apologize and leave never to return.

  4. I think it would highly depend on the context of the situation. If I tipped 20% and they got upset at that then I’d tell them that it’s tough noogies. Ask their boss to *actually* pay them. If I purposely gave them a smaller tip then it’s probably because they actually did stuff wrong and didn’t earn it. And coming by and yelling at me is just more proof that I shouldn’t be tipping them a lot.

  5. Not give a fuck. Sounds like an employer employee problem if they feel they don’t get paid enough.

  6. Do you mean like a co-worker that you’re out eating with, or the server at the restaurant?

  7. Take the tip back and let them know it’s for extra service, it’s not part of their pay.

  8. It’s only happened to me once.

The service was terrible: long wait, wrong order, no refills, and she had an unpleasant attitude. After getting the meal comped by the manager, because it was so bad I didn’t finish it, I still left a 5 dollar tip. The waitress started cursing me out for not caring about a struggling single mother. I smiled, put the money back, and walked away. Fuck off to servers who try to shame people. Also, fuck Ruby Tuesday.

  9. Shrug and not care. I didn’t come for the waiter, I came for the food. The “server” can piss off if they don’t like my tip.

  10. That’s literally never happened to me, but that’s because I always leave a decent tip. But if I left my customary 15-20% tip and the waitstaff tried to shame me for it, I would probably be pissed off.

  11. Tell them to grow up and get a real job. You want a big tip then work for it

  12. If they’re doing that, it should be pretty obvious why they’re getting what they’re getting.

  13. Couldn’t happen. I always pay for services rendered. Tipping is not optional for moral people.

  14. I don’t tip, you work for a guy who makes money out of costumers. Go talk to him about it. He owes you not we.

  15. I live in a country where restaurants have this crazy notion of paying their staff a wage rather than relying on optional handouts, so this simply wouldn’t happen to me.

    Yay.. freedom…

  16. Lucky that I don’t live in a country where tipping is mandatory, that concept is weird

  17. Probably talk to the manager and let him know that the behaviour of their employee cost them business and is very rude

  18. Take back the whole tip and reminded them I come from civilized part of the world, Europe, where tips are (optionaly) due for extraordinardy service, not for the very existence.

  19. I’m a generous tipper. If I’m treated well, i tip well because I know how hard the restaurant industry is after working in it for a few years. If someone gets mad at me for how much i tipped i will happily take my money back

  20. Don’t have this issue, as I don’t eat out anymore because it’s just gotten way too expensive and I prefer cooking for myself anyway. I heard a lot of restaurant workers squawking at people online though saying “if you can’t afford to tip, don’t eat out” and now they’re eating their words because now meals are more expensive and smaller portions and they expect 20% tip and people can’t afford it and stopped eating out. Now we hear all these restaurants closing or complaining “why isn’t anyone eating out or supporting us?” we took your advice lol

  21. Was there a justification for “no tip”? Bad service, bad food, unexplained long waiting time, waiter forget you? If not why not enough tip and in your country what is concidered not enough in my country it range fro 15 to 20% of the bill, under that is concidered not enough. But i don’t feel bad to not tip if the service was mediocre at best…

Once been in a bar, waitress got me a flat beer, i told her it was flat and not drinkable she tasted it in front of me and try and told me it was supposed to taste like that. Tried to convince me to drink it anyway, i told her i wanted another. Back an forth… she give in and get me a cheaper beer… but still try and charge me full price of the first more expansive one i give her the money for the first one flush then she tell me service not included i tell indeed service was not incluses… proceed to drink my cheap ass barely drinkable beer then leave. I told her to get rhe tip from the difference she tried to steal me between the 2 beer.

  22. I tip when I actually receive a service not when every fucking retail store asks for one.

  23. I tip based on the service I receive. If I feel the service was exceptional, I’ll tip on average 30%+ depending.

But, piss me off, act like an entitled ass or just plain be miserable to deal with and your lucky to get 5 cents.

  24. A lady did this at a massage parlor, I scratched out the line and left no tip before walking out.

  25. They need customers more than I need restaurants, LOL, so good luck with that strategy.

Sounds like the kind of place that won’t be around much longer LOL.
