We (family with kids) will be traveling to the UK for an extended summer holiday in a couple of months. We’ll be staying in an airbnb and would like to bring our xbox for the kids. I have a couple of [these travel adapters](https://www.amazon.com/Ireland-Adapter-TESSAN-Adaptor-Scotland/dp/B07PVMYM3P/ref=sr_1_1_sspa), would these work with an xbox as well? Would I be able to use a US power strip with these, for example for everyone’s phone chargers?

  1. Only if the power supply is multivoltage. Check the sticker on it and see if it says something along the lines of 100-220v on it.

If it is not multivoltage – no, as we use 220v here.

A quick google suggests the Xbox Series and Xbox One S consoles are multivoltage so would be fine with the adaptor. But please check your powersupply.

  2. As long as the adapter is rated to the capacity the console requires which I think is 60w you’ll generally be fine.

I’d highly recommend getting a strip when you’re over here to make sure it’s 100% legal and safe. Don’t go for cheap as chips ones and make sure it’s a good quality.

If you’re shopping on Amazon try to avoid the ones with names like the one you linked. “TESSAN” store just seems like an Ali Baba front where the quality is questionable. Read verified reviews with pictures and read the bad reviews before purchasing. A fire isn’t worth an extra £5 for a safe cable.

  3. It says about 8 times on that page that the product is not a voltage converter. So unless your X Box can dynamically switch from US voltage to UK voltage it may got bang.

  4. Lots of people taling about stepdown converters needed here. They’re wrong.

The Xbox power supply can dynamically step between 230V and 110V, just like any PC power supply can these days.

Only thing i can recommend getting is a UK lead, you’ll be fine.

  5. We used to do this when I was younger travelling UK to Canada for a long holiday to visit family. We just rented a console from Blockbuster 😀. Good old Blockbuster, bring it back!

  6. If you have a console with the external “brick”, then don’t even try unless you want to make the thing go bang + blow the fuse box for the whole place.

The exact same thing happened to me on Xmas day 2013 when I got a 360 imported from the US

If you have a console with the integrated PSU, then I believe this will be fine as it is multi-voltage

  7. Consumer electronics like Xbox that are sold globally will have a built-in step up/down converter. Simply attach a US to UK plug adaptor to your existing power cable and you’ll be good to go!
