Hey guys, so I got an iud a couple months ago and it has been hurting for a while and bleeding I just want to know if it’s normal for it to do this? it seems to hurt more when me and my partner have sex without protection maybe causing the iud to work more? Lol just wondering if you had these experiences?
EDIT: recently went to my gynaecologist and she said everything sounded fine and it looked great but I’m still just unsure why after sex it is causing cramps

  1. No, I would visit your OBGYN. It’s normal to feel cramps the first 24-48 hours from my experience, but if you’re in pain l, def get medical advice.

And no, the IUD doesn’t “work harder” due to lack of protection. You shouldn’t be in pain.

  2. Not normal and I’d be changing methods if I were you. Painful sex is a big problem and defeats the purpose of using BC in the first place- eventually it’ll become so offputting that you’ll be practicing abstinence
