Whenever i’m having a conversation with someone i don’t really know what to say. i’m not good at small talk but i’m too shy to go into a deep conversation with someone. i never know if i’m just meant to say something little as a responce or start talking in sentence. i guess i’m meant to say more because after a while the person i’m talking to stops talking to me. am i seen as boring when my responce is 1-4 words long each time?

Umm yeah 1-4 word replies makes it seem like you’re not interested in talking, that’s why the other person leaves. Seems like you’re aware of it. Try as much as you can to be more engaging. Think about how the other person feels when they possibly had to fight their own shyness to talk to you and you sound uninterested. If you can’t talk, I get it, I used to be so shy I couldn’t speak, but you gotta start somewhere
You may be seen as bored or uninterested when you give 1-4 word responses. Also, you can still speak on a topic without really knowing much about the topic.
You can focus more on listening and asking questions. You may not know much about the war going on at Hogwarts, but maybe you have an opinion on war in general, and you can always ask them to tell you more about it and what their thoughts are on it
