So i just moved into a new area and while i was waiting a the carpark for a delivery of a freezer, a very sweet old man who also lives here came up to me and started chatting. I chatted back to him and i felt it was a nice conversation, but very quickly the older man was talked about how his wife of 50 years died last years.

At the exact same time as this came up, my delivery arrived and i briefly directed my attention to that as the delivery guy had my freezer on a trolley and seemed to walk straight past us. But in that short window that i was chatting to the delivery guy, the old man turned around and walked straight to his home.

Now, i feel really bad, as i essentially didnt pay attention when he was talking about such an emotionally important event as i had to get the attention of my delivery, so he must feel so rejected, and i really didnt want to reject him, i just wanted to fix my delivery and continue talking afterward. Idk why im typing this, maybe to vent, i just have a bad feeling in my stomach.

  1. You will no doubt see him around again, so when you do, invite him over for coffee!
