For sure it seems to be a big thing in the USA, but where I come from, it is not a thing at all traditionally. How is it in your country? ☺️

  1. We do eat beef or horse steak every once in a while, but you’re not going to find those massive American 350g steaks in any random supermarket. We mostly get a 120-150g chunk of loin.

  2. Yes. Txuleton all the way!.
It’s even a tradition here, going to a Cider House (Sagardotegi a) and drink Cider and eat Cod and Steak.

  3. not really.

Closest one would be grilled karkówka [example](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFLjq6WaZ74)

If you see steak on the menu it’s usually some american styled restaurant (usually along burgers and ribs).

Beef in generall is not that popular here it’s way behind pork and chicken. It’s also relatively expensive compared to other meats

  4. No traditionally it wasn’t. Pork was the main meat source, red meat was for special occasions and usually a roast, with some exceptions, but definitely not as the “main meat” thing.

Nowadays… people do eat it occasionally for sure but I wouldn’t call it “a thing”.

  5. Steak-frites you’ll find on just about any restaurant’s menu. Be prepared for the grumbling cook if you order a steak “well done”, though.

  6. You’ll find steak on the menu at most restaurants, and pubs that serve food in the UK. Often served with a choice of vegetables or chips (thicker steak cut chips, not fries).

There are a few chains like Miller and Carter but I haven’t been to one of their restaurants.

  7. Yes, it is a big thing. People love steak in Sweden. Pan-seared is common, and you’ll see lots of grilled steak in the summer.

    More common cuts include:
Entrecôte, tenderloin, flank steak, strip steak. Even some American cuts, such as T-bone can be found in well-stocked stores.

    Traditionally? Maybe not so much.

  8. Reasonably so. Most restaurants/pubs that serve food will have steaks (other than veggie/vegan places), although varying in quality. Scottish women over 50 do have a tendency to like their steaks (or all meat, really) beyond well done, verging on the consistency of coal. Other people tend to prefer their steaks to have a bit more flavour though.

The one thing I find strange about American steaks is that “grass-fed beef” is like a marketing thing, but in Scotland we just call that beef – what else would they eat‽

  9. Beef in general is not very popular, although popularity is slowly growing.

  10. Steak is still quite expensive, so people usually only eat it in restaurants or for special occasions.

  11. Meh. The boiled head and hoofs of a pig are more of a delicatessen. Mainly the snout and ears.

  12. Not really, pork and chicken are more popular. Beef is mostly used in burgers or kebabs if anything.

  13. Luxembourg’s farmers cultivate a lot of beef. We got a traditional “salad” recipe made from it. Steaks are well appreciated here but the culinary culture surrounding steaks is more Franco-Belgian than American. There are still plenty of steak houses around but to get a new gimmick to sell more, most now offer stone steak grilling. It’s more usual to get a steak at a regular restaurant than a dedicated one.

  14. Traditionally we eat roasts, sunday roast as it’s known in the UK, or roulads, stews and meatball-like steaks like Wallenbergare. But nowadays, of course you can get a good steak 🙂

  15. Beef, in general, is not popular here. Now, pork and chicken – that’s another story.

  16. No, we are mostly pig country for many reasons (socialism included as it is 1.5. today) and our domestic breed is mostly milk than meat source. If you visit a regular butcher non steak cuts of beef will be majority of they have. Steak wise there will be just sirlion and maybe some vacuum packed steak aged meat not made in house but from one of couple of companies here.

But it is slowly turning better over years.

  17. Steak is pretty popular here. We raise some tasty cattle in Scotland so yeah, 10/10 for Scottish beef. A good steak with chips (fries) or nice potatoes and veg with peppercorn sauce is my favourite dinner

  18. It has become rather popular to grill a steak in recent years. Most supermarkets tend to offer a variety of steaks but you best buy them from your local butcher.

There are also a few steak house chains around, that grew in recent years.
