Title.

I’ve been using “Tracfone” brand prepaid phones as my daily-drivers for years because of this lol – probably started around 2014 once I realized that paying a “monthly” phone bill wasn’t worth it with no social life to justify the expense

My current phone (the one I’m making this reddit post with) is the Moto G Pure with a 6.5″ screen

Purchased for $119 including 1 year of service, came with 1500 minutes/1500 texts/1.5 Gb data. So the good news is I literally don’t have a monthly phone bill like these normies with $50-$100/per month bills on their pricey iPhones and such, and the phones are so cheap I usually just upgrade/buy a new one every year because I can 😂

Because no one ever calls or texts me other than my younger brother and my mom, I can “get away with this” – other people’s mileage may vary though. ***Maybe*** I’ll occasionally get an automated 2FA text message from my bank, email providers, and ISP (Comcast) when logging in from a new/unrecognized device, but that’s about it – it’s basically only my younger brother and my mom that ever contact me on my phone

By the end of the year my remaining service usually looks something like this:

– 1250-1300 minutes left (I rarely talk over the phone)
– 150-200 text messages left (I mostly text)
– 300-400 Mb data left

Anyone else do something similar (ditching a $50-$100/month phone bill for a cheap burner phone)?
