How have you dealt with a selfish SO?

2. Unfortunately, I just took it until we eventually broke up. One of my biggest regrets because I don’t think she even comprehends how selfish she is.

3. My husband died of cancer three months ago and prior to cancer was extremely selfish. He literally was incapable of putting anyone else’s needs above his own. So this forced me to prioritise myself. Initially I thought he would consider me but he was never going to do that. I would point out his selfishness if it was important to me but if it didn’t affect me I would ignore it. I was aware that his selfishness came from a very abusive childhood and had great sympathy for that but it didn’t give him the right to treat me poorly. I did change my expectations of how I thought he would behave though and had no problem in standing up for myself when necessary.
