Yeah I feel embarrassed asking this at all but I’ve been wondering…so. I’m just going to rip off the bandaid and ask all the questions in my mind.

Is being on top at all bad? Would she need to be very careful and gentle or could she bounce as much as she wants?

Would having a very soft bed to distribute the weight help? How much?

Is the whole “pelvis crushed” a thing that can actually happen? Can you have the wind knocked out of you? Injured ribs? Like getting punched is the stomach? Legs going numb?

Does the size of the person on bottom matter? Like would a little person have more issues?

Is there a difference between someone who’s just like tall and or muscular and someone with a lot of body fat? Like differences in weight distribution and softness?

  1. Being larger or smaller won’t somehow make sex wildly different or more dangerous. Even small or slender people need to be careful and considerate with their partners during sex to avoid squishing sensitive parts or hurting a partner. This applies to heavier people as well. Being large or strong doesn’t disconnect a person with what constitutes a gentle or firm touch. That being said a 300lb person bumping into someone transfers a LOT more kinetic energy than a 150 lb person bumping into someone. Momentum matters and being careful is always good practice.

Woman on top is intrinsically a little more dangerous than other common sexual positions: it’s easy for an erection to pop out from the vagina and be very seriously (er visit) damaged by the weight of the person on top bending the erection unnaturally. This is a risk regardless of either partner’s size.

Usually when one person is atop another most of their weight is NOT put on the human being under them. Depending on the position the person on top supports the great majority of their weight on their knees or feet, their elbows, fore arms and hands. There is still SOME weight placed on the person on the bottom, but good partners always communicate to keep each other comfortable.

Having some extra pillows to place around and make both of you comfortable can be helpful regardless of weight. There are definitely some positions which are trickier or not possible when one or both partners are heavier. Generally sex with a big person is as wonderful as sex with a smaller person.
