mandatory “english is my second language” disclaimer
I noticed that every time I talk in text I tend to write too much, which often results in the talk becoming one sides and also I’ve been told this makes me look aloof somehow, because of that I’m trying to speak using short sentences more but I usually struggle to include enough info to pass what I’m thinking, which results in sentences being long anyway.

  1. You can practice this, which you already do so that’s good. Whenever you write a long text again, look at it before hitting send and think about it: Which details are irrelevant or not as important? Which sentemces can you still shorten? Or maybe you use a long word multiple times instead of refering to it using “it”. You can also ask ChatGPT to summarize your text using very few words to see how it could be done.

To be honest I’m also sometimes annoyed at the long texts that friends send or even the stories they tell without getting to the point so I think summarizing your thoughts in fewer words could be a valuable skill.

In verbal talk, the period there essentially takes the form of a longer pause.
