Definitely Birmingham. Blackpool, unfortunately, is a poor area, struggling with social problems. It can be depressing.
Birmingham.
Blackpool is dead in the winter and in the summer it’s full of drunks and stag and hen parties mostly from the dregs of English society. It doesn’t really have many job opportunities if you want to move to a new one or don’t like the job you are in. Birmingham has better transport links and has many different job opportunities
Both can be pretty rough areas to live in so be aware of that.
To be honest I’m not a fan of either places and I’m not sure how much worse they are after Covid hit their economy but I guarantee Blackpool would have suffered as alot of their income is based on tourism.
Neither.
Definitely Birmingham over Blackpool. Seaside towns are dead or dying in England due to lack of tourism and Blackpool is no exception although its hanging on better than most, it may be worth a visit once you live here if you do fancy a day out at the beach, but you’ll likely be much happier living in Birmingham.

Birmingham without a doubt – it’s a big city with good and bad areas but plenty to do. Blackpool sadly is a tacky seaside town which is very run down. Birmingham’s location makes it easier to explore the country as well. Good luck!
Birmingham.
On every measure Blackboard is one of the worst places in the country to live.
I have a misguided love of Blackpool but, please, don’t ever consider moving there. Well, unless you’re into crime, drugs, and deprivation. In which case, it’s the very spot for you. Not a major fan of Birmingham, but it’s a big city with great transport links, and it’s not Blackpool.
I would be VERY surprised if anyone recommended Blackpool, lmao.
Birmingham is bleak. But its key pro is that isn’t Blackpool.
Blackpool, by the sea. Birmingham, more job opportunities. I lived in Birmingham for 11 years, haven’t lived there since 2002 though.
Birmingham, Blackpool has hotels which still advertise running water as a feature
There are some lovely towns and villages within commuter distance of Blackpool so you can avoid actually living there.
Blackpool itself is a shit hole and I’d avoid living in it at all costs
