Dear men,

This is my first time posting here, I’ve read the rules but please tell me if I’m doing it wrong!

My 35 year old boyfriend is going through a tough time, today he had to fly back to his home country to be with his family for a bit.

I would like to surprise him with something nice when he returns, and I have decided to give him a beautiful gaming room.

He has all the gear already, the PlayStations, VR glasses, Xbox, a projector, good monitor, good chair, etc. I am looking for extra accessories, or just very unnecessary stuff that looks cool. Led lights, mini fridge, sculptures of his favourite game (Metal Gear Solid). I know nothing about gaming and what men appreciate while doing it, but I would really like to get this right.

Could you help me out with some suggestions of what I really should incorporate? He deserves the best so suggestions for any budget are okay! Thank you so much for your help, much appreciated!

  1. I think this is a great idea, but maybe give him a bit more of a blank slate to work with. What I mean is focus on organization and shelving. Give him some different ways to store things and add shelves of some sort to add memorabilia/toys/etc.

Also, minifridge is an amazing idea. Make sure you fill it with his favorite liquid vice and some snacks.

  2. Very cool! My small suggestion is a pack of something along the lines of narrow velcro cable ties, and self-adhesive cable tie mounts. They go a long way for managing wires and streamlining setups.

  3. Although you risk it not fitting in with the style that he chooses, if you can think of a photo or graphic that you know he’ll enjoy, consider a custom desk pad or mousepad. I got one from Specter Custom Mousepads and it came out great.

  4. an OLED TV (like the LG C2) is basically a high-end splurge item, if you want to go all-out. they are pricey but there’s no comparison to LCD TV’s once you have one.

also consider a nice sound system. a decent soundbar and subwoofer might be around $500.

or, perhaps a nice gaming headset. or pro-level controller for his console
