Where are we buying our workout clothes? I just got started back into the functional fitness space and want to look somewhat decent when working out. I really like these cheap Russell shorts from Wal-Mart, but think they are discontinued. Anyone have something they like that isn’t Lulu expensive? Anyone try Fabletics? The subscription thing is strange to me.

  1. Wear whatever is comfortable and puts you into the mindset to workout. A comfy t-shirt, athletic shorts/joggers is all you need. Walmart/old navy/target will suffice. Nobody will judge.

  2. Anthem Athletics on Amazon makes really comfy shorts. I like them more than my lululemon shorts and they’re like $30 only.

  3. Depends what you’re looking for. The general fashion ‘trend’ for men now is something like a vneck tshirt and relatively slim sweat pants.

If you don’t care about what’s ‘in’ then just go for whatever suits you best.

  4. I just buy whatever is cheapest on Amazon and wear it until it literally falls apart.

  5. I ordered them from Amazon but, to be honest, I’m really not concerned with how I look. I just want to wick sweat away, stay cool, and keep my thighs from chafing.

  6. The last time I got workout clothes, I bought C9 brand by Champion at Target.

  7. Speedo and wife beater. Everyone leaves me alone in the gym so it’s super efficient.

  8. I really like my Lululemon stuff, but yeah, they’re expensive so I don’t have many of those. For a more reasonable price, I like my UnderArmour shirts and shorts.

  9. I’ve gotten a lot of stuff from Kohl’s and Target, some at Walmart too. I just go for stuff that’s comfortable and affordable. Don’t see the point in dropping serious money on clothes you’re going to drench in sweat on a regular basis.

  10. Agree on buying cheap stuff… My experience of the sweat wicking t-shirts from even the good brands is that no matter how you wash them, after they’ve been soaked in sweat for the hundredth time they just stink whether washed or not. So you may as well get cheap ones from Amazon and toss them once they’re stinking.

Only exception is socks. Buying good running socks will make your trainers last longer and good trainers are expensive. So buy good socks.

  11. Lululemon shit is the last workout great I’ll ever buy. High quality, well designed with actual useful features.

  12. I just use cheap stuff. Free t-shirts I got from events and some cheap Walmart/target shorts. It doesn’t have to be fancy.

  13. Walmart.

The only thing I spend less than absolutely minimum on to work out is padded bike shorts for cycling.
