I always love reading those stories. Were you nervous? Did she suspect something? Who did you involve in the plan? How long did the planning process take etc.

  1. She didn’t suspect a thing, no one was involved in the planning, and it literally took about a day or two.

Anyway, we started off as a long distance couple, and once the distance was closed there was zero doubt I would have a ring on her finger. One early evening we went to the Santa Monica Pier, and did all the touristy things there are to do. Before leaving for dinner, we sat down on a bench to watch the sunset.

I asked her to “close your eyes, and name some of your favorite memories together.” She started naming off many, and when she asked “why do you ask?” I replied: “You ready to create more of those awesome memories forever?”

When she opened her eyes with me holding out a ring, she had the biggest smile on her face, and I knew that I made the right decision with this girl.

  2. She didn’t expect it, took her out to a nice dinner for our dating anniversary, but she tried to talk me out of going, said it was silly to celebrate dating anniversaries. I had already dropped the ring off at the restaurant and they planned to bring it out during dessert and take some pictures. I was nervous, but knew she’d say yes and she did. It was a great night

  3. We went hiking and “coincidentally” went on the same trail where we first met 8 years ago. It’s a rugged trail that requires some scrambling, but it’s an awesome view. We got to the top in about 3 hours, and we sat down on the same rock that I first saw her, and the same rock we caught our breath while talking. She said “this was a lot easier 8 years ago huh?” and I said “a lot harder when you’re carrying up a rock this time around”. She said what do you mean? I got down on one knee, pulled out the custom Diamond ring, and asked her to marry me. She immediately started crying hysterically and said yes softly. I put the ring on her and she jumped into my arms. Photographer (my friend) had been waiting behind a rock for like 30 minutes and got video and photos. We did a whole photo shoot there and on the way down.

It was a euphoric moment in my life.

  4. I met my dad for lunch and he gave me some family jewelry that means a lot to me. (2 hour drive for each of us)

When I got home my wife got home s few minutes later. I suggested we go for a scenic drive and do some ship-spotting as a friend of ours was coming into the harbor. We went to the top of a mountain via car and looked out over the harbor. I pointed to the nearby trees and said “look over there!”

I got on one knee and held out the ring. After I didn’t answer “what’s over there?” several times, she turned around and I proposed. She said yes and we were elated for quite some time.

  5. Both times in bed after sex. Just ask them , you got to get married ? Nothing like moment of clarity to find out

  6. I met my wife at college, and there happens to be a location on campus that has a tradition around proposing there.

We had several plans to return to campus, but they kept getting cancelled; I had that ring for 8 months before I could make it happen.

I involved one of our friends that still lived in the area as an excuse to visit, walked around campus playing Pokémon go and reliving college stories. Made it to the location and proposed. Friend took pictures for us and the rest is history.

  7. I took her to our favourite spot in Scotland and did it! It’s a seaside walk, we took our dog and it was perfect to be fair. There was the element of surprise (not a surprise engagement we knew that was going to happen at some point) and somewhat homely ness of a familiar place that we could take our potential kids.

For reference it was close to my family’s holiday home where I took her once we got serious for our first getaway.

    Good luck!

  8. LoL, I was about 5 beers into a sixer of CL smoothies when I looked over:

Me: hey, when are we getting married?

    Her: I don’t know…

Me: let’s do it this summer [about 3 months away]

Her: we CAN’T just go get married…. that’s, like, what GROWN UPS do!!! [We were 27/28]

Me: yeah, and?! C’mon, we’ll go to the beach and get married.

    Her: is this your proposal?🤣

Me: I guess, yeah, I just want to do it already.

    He: okay

That was almost 20 years ago, we’re still in crazy in love and it was perfect FOR US.

  9. We literally sat down at the dinner table, talked about life, and decided yeah we should probably get married.

    Really.
