I just started professional school in a class of \~180 people and have been trying to find a friend group. I’m working my way into one, but something feels off in how they talk. I’m not sure why my alarm bells are going off. I mentioned a few of the people in the group to a closer friend of mine, and my good friend said “Oh, they feel catty to me.” My gut feeling agrees with them, but I don’t know why. I don’t have any evidence as they haven’t been mean to me or other people (yet).
Am I just being paranoid? What tips you off that someone could be catty, and what sorts of behavior comes with being catty?

It basically means they seem like girls that gossip.. Girls that aren’t really your friends and will talk about you behind your back
