It felt good, because I was speaking my true feelings. It wasn’t reciprocated with the actual “I love you” words at first, but with the feelings the other person showed me and their actions. The words then followed some time after. You always at least kind of expect/hope to hear the “I love you too” back in the moment, but for me it felt very important to still vocalize my love, regardless of the response.
It was a bit awkward and probably too early. He still needed time but eventually a few weeks later he said it too. It’s been 7 years, we are married now, but he regularly brings it up and laughs about how cute I was.
He said “I don’t want to say it back until I mean it”. I told him it was fine. He said “Are u sure? I just don’t wanna hurt you. I could say it but it would be me lying to you.” I said “It’s okay, I just wanna you to know I love you.” It took him another whole year to say it back tho lol. We broke up 2 months later v
