As the title suggests. I’m on a journey to improve my social and relational skills and would love to get some insights on how to be better at conversation and connecting with people. Also I’ve been reading/re-reading “Conversationally Speaking” – which is great. Any other books or media that you’d recommend to improve my conversational skills would be great!

  1. In terms of conversation skills:

Ask questions, listen, ask more questions. Once you get better: ask questions, listen, ask more questions, relate your own story, tell a joke, ask another question.

Everyone you meet you should be able to give a REAL compliment. If you can’t appreciate anything about any random person you need to change your mindset. It’s need to be REAL compliment, not fake.

Always be agreeable. Use emojis in text messages. Never brag. Always assume people know exactly what your social intentions are, no matter how good you think you can hide it. Never be negative unless they are first. Fake laugh a lot.

  2. Practice active listening and ask open-ended questions to show genuine interest in others

Remember, it’s all about making a connection!

  3. To improve your conversational skills, I highly recommend “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie

It’s a classic and offers valuable insights on building connections with others

Keep practicing and you’ll see improvement!
