During 7th to 10th grade i never had a problem in making friends. I had a pretty big circle of friends back then mostly because if my friend has other friend, we would instantly be friends too. This year, we graduated and moved to different schools and only me and my 3 other friends went to the same school. One of my friends is on the same section as me so i thought i would have no troubles in adjusting. So far, after a month I was only able to talk with one of my classmates and mostly spends my time with my friend.

I guess table partners are a good place to start. I made quite a lot of friends from seating arrangements. U can try initiating convos with them and see how it goes
