Just wanted to share – I’m new in town and haven’t really found my groove yet. Living solo and my co-workers are usually swamped. Met some new pals, but I’m the type who gets irked pretty easily. They’re cool, but there are a few things bugging me. Like when I pick up my buddy, I end up waiting outside his place for like 5-10 minutes. Happened a bunch of times. I’m usually on my toes about not keeping anyone waiting. Also, they’re big on sharing drinks, and I got a bit pressured into it once. Plus, the constant selfies thing… not really my jam. Tried to say I’m not camera-ready, but didn’t quite stick. It’s been a bit of a struggle, especially since I’m still finding my way around here.

They also surprised me by asking to drop off their friends, who I hadn’t met before, at their place. I was quite taken aback, not expecting strangers to hop into my car. This incident left me a bit uneasy, especially with one guy. However, he’s the reason I’ve connected with so many other people and made new friends. We’ve been hanging out quite often, almost 2-3 times every weekend. Perhaps it’s a tad frequent. They’re good folks overall, just a few small hiccups. Do you think it might be a good idea to scale back on our meet-ups a bit? And maybe politely let them know that I’ll wait for a maximum of 2 minutes outside their place?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

  1. I’m just wondering why it’s on you to pick people up. Don’t these people have their own transportation? I definitely wouldn’t offer to pick up a stranger, but maybe you’re a guy and that wouldn’t bother you so much.

What’s the “sharing drinks” thing? I mean, in the Covid era I’m not sharing anyone’s drink, and that’s the perfect excuse not to do it. If you mean taking turns buying a round, that’s fairly typical depending on the crowd.

You might want to have this group be one part of your social life but not the whole thing. That way you can see them when you feel like it, but don’t have to overexposure yourself in the Selfie Sense. (lol)
