I really don’t understand this age of texting tbh. Typically I (21M) don’t like to talk with people over text/call and would rather do it in person due to the dynamic. Here’s where the problem comes in:

Why do people take 2+ days just to reply to messages that don’t require much (asking to meetup, etc.)? I’m not trying to have a long discussion with them over phone as stated already so the convo would last likely 8 or less msgs. I understand nobody is glued to their phone and some have DnD enabled but most people aren’t away from their phone for that long either (at least the people I know).

The extremely horrible timing makes it impossible to plan events that take places on certain days which is really a shame and it makes me inclined to just not text anyone. The multiple days, even up to a week, of not saying anything to a simple RSVP just doesn’t work for me and I’m trying really hard to understand why some people are like this. I look back at all the times I was extremely busy and I still found 30 seconds in my day to send a reply back.

It also doesn’t help that I’m more on the introverted side of socializing so constantly trying to practice putting in effort and it’s met back with this multiple times just drains me further.

  1. If you need a quick answer then call. If they don’t pick up, leave a voicemail or text them to call you back and include what you want to talk to them about.

Texting is for non urgent stuff and it is normal and accepted for people to take a long time to answer.
You can disagree with that, you can dislike it, but you’re not gonna change anything by being sulky.
