God forbid there be a time one gets robbed at gunpoint, whether it be at home or on the road. However it’s possible what does one do if acting in self defense and shoots the robber and dies ? Do you tell exactly what happened to the cops be quiet or get a lawyer im sure I’m not the only one curious btw I’m in texas so I know laws are different. If someone could give me some insight on what to do

If you have a gun on you then two things are clear
1) Your pride is worth more to you than a stranger’s life
2) You have been dreaming of this day
So just celebrate I guess? I’d just give them my wallet and cancel my credit card while I’m waiting for the police to respond but hey, at least you don’t have to “be a victim”.
If you’re white call the cops and explain what happened. If you’re not however probably safe bet to lawyer up first.
I’m pretty sure in most states you could just shoot the robber and just wait for the cops to come clean up the mess, I know that’s the case for Montana but it definitely varies
First you want to make sure your firearm is safe and secure. Then you call the police and EMS, tell them someone was shot then immediate you want to call your lawyer. They will speak to the police on your behalf. Do not tell the police anything.
You tell the cops what happened. If they have a gun, or in some cases even if they don’t, you can claim a threat to your life and shoot in self defense.
If you’ve killed someone in “self defence” isn’t it still murder?
Just make sure you dont die and move on with your life. Definitely dont try to defend yourself just give them all your shit and let them get the fuck away from you. Then call the cops.
Admittedly i’ve never been held at gunpoint, but i’ve been robbed with a knife twice and had a knife pulled on me a couple more times. I have no issues at all from any of those occassions, i never did. I handled it then, i’ll hande it next time. Very few people are actually looking to hurt you, so just dont give them any reason to and they wont. Mostly.
