We hooked up one other time a few weeks ago but used condoms. This time I gave him oral but without a condom and he wasn’t tested before.

I’m going to get tested as soon as the incubation period ends, but I’m scared and anxious I may have contracted something even though I don’t have any symptoms.

Is it likely that I got an STD? I know a lot of people have one night stands and they’re okay, but maybe I’m just trying to reassure myself.

I previously only had sex when everyone was tested so I’m freaking out right now.

  1. Is there any other reason to think he had an STD? It’s also very unlikely to get an infection through oral only. Not impossible but unlikely.

  2. Getting tested is simple and harmless. Better to be safe than sorry, so good job you are.
Oral STD’s are not as easily contracted but there’s still a real risk.
Unfortunately the social acceptance of using condoms for oral sex is non-existent.

  3. It is unlikely that you got a STI, but a surprising amount of STI’s are transmitted orally with similar infection rates, so it’s a good idea to do CBJs until you are tested. Since many STDs can be asymptomatic in your throat, they are harder to identify too.

Chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis and herpes are all possible to contract orally. The throat is a mucous membrane too after all.

At the same time, even if he had an infection, your chance is in the low single digits, so while possible, it isn’t very likely.

    Hope that helps. ❤️
