By “mid-range” I mean buildings that are reasonably tall. Let’s say, 10+ stories. I *don’t* mean skyscrapers.

I’m asking because I tend to enjoy cities that have a vertical feeling to them, but not ones that just have 10-15 big skyscrapers in one area but low-lying buildings everywhere else.

Any thoughts on which cities in Europe are like this?

  1. Moscow maybe? I haven’t been in years obviously but I remember feeling very small in a different way than I have in for example hong kong or Manhattan. Those places feel tight and crammed to me, whereas Moscow in a lot of places especially along the main arterials that are like 10 lanes wide are lined with 10/12 story Stalinist buildings. It’s a strange sensation because you don’t feel small and crammed, it feels very spacious and open but it’s just that the scale of the entire city is so different from many other places.
