I was talking to a friend yesterday and she thinks that it’s a deal breaker for her if the man splits the check on a date. I can see why and I am ok with that, because that’s to some extent a thing that a successful, generous gentleman should be able to do..

What I have an issue with, is that she says she doesn’t even offer or when she does, it’s a facade. So, if the guy accepts that offer – it’s a deal breaker.

For me, I will always pay but I consider it an important gesture for the girl to sincerely offer. That means, she is open to paying without holding it against me if I accept that offer but when I choose to pay, that gives me bonus points.

This difference in philosophy communicates something:

1. about me
2. About my friend
3. the traits I like in people I associate with .

But I am not able to specifically point out what these are. What do you think?

Lowkey: I lost a little respect for this friend and given I am more generous with my paying habits, I hope I am not being taken advantage of. Not sure if that’s the right way to think?
