This question is particularly for girls and women. I’m just wondering if my experience is unique or if anyone has any thoughts on it.

I feel a lot of pressure to just agree with whatever my friends think and feel.

I do just have trouble advocating for myself a lot of the time, but I think I see this kind of friendship encouraged in social media. Under the guise of “girl code” or whatever.

For example…

Your friend is complaining about work or something and you don’t actually think there’s much to complain about.
But you have to respond with something along the lines of “yeah I get it that sucks”

Or they’re complaining about someone else — family or a friend or a partner — but you kinda think they’re the one in the wrong
You kinda just have to say “wow man fuck them”

You get what I mean?

I feel like I always need to bite my tongue to be liked and have the conversation go pleasantly
