I know this isn’t exactly UK specific, and more Europe/US specific but figured I’d ask here.

I’ve returned from spending several years in Asia and one thing I find interesting is that the idea of ‘breakfast foods’ doesn’t really exist in the same way there (apart from a few exceptions like congee). I miss being able to head out for some fried rice or a noodle soup at 9am. In the UK, unless you’re cooking yourself, you tend to only be able to choose from greasy spoons type places or more bougie brunch options.

Even before living in Asia I’ve always eaten everything for breakfast: curry, pasta or fried chicken, it didn’t matter. People at work would look at me weirdly when I’m eating leftover lasagna before work but, why not? When did society start designating certain things for breakfast in the UK/Europe?
