Title says it all. Today I went to a café and wanted to order a small treat. Unfortunately, I realized that I forgot my purse at home and also got locked out of my phone, where I had my credit card info saved as a last resort. I think the employee felt bad for me and so they decided to give it to me for free, but I feel like I took advantage of them for getting something without paying for it like I should’ve. Would it be ok to go back to the café to pay if the same employee is still around, or would that be awkward? Also idk if this is the right sub to post this: if not, please lmk!

Nah, don’t bother. Just tip a little extra next time you see them.
No don’t go back. There’s a chance the employee could get in trouble for giving you the free coffee. Also there’s really no good way to add money to a till once the day has been closed out. Just tip well next time
